General Membership Questions

How do Discount Plans work?

Step 1: Select a plan that is right for you.

 − Each plan is a little different, offering a bundle of healthcare options designed to meet the needs of every type of customer.

− By choosing to pay annually, Members can save 10% off the monthly plan price.

Step 2: Gain access to our network of healthcare providers included in your plan.

− Download our ID App or Log in with your Desktop Computer to print your ID Card and Member Materials.

− As a member, you’ll have access to significant savings on each of your included services.

− In our Members Area, you’ll find your ID Card, instructions on how to locate providers, directions on how to use their services and more.

Step 3: Save Money with Fixed Prices, for example…

− For plans with our telemedicine product, there is no additional cost to call. It’s FREE.

− With our Discount Dental Plan product, you can view the sample fee schedule by using our Provider Search tool and then clicking on ‘POS’ for the Dentist closest to you.

Can I use this plan even if I already have insurance?

A discount plan can help reduce your out-of-pocket expenses and stretch your dollar so you reach your maximums more slowly. Our telemedicine product for example is completely free to use. Compare that to what you would pay visiting the Emergency Room or Urgent Care facility. 

You may also use the plan for services not covered by your insurance plan. For example, many people have medical insurance, but do not have dental and vision coverage. Please remember that our plans are NOT insurance and may offer discounts on many services not included in traditional indemnity plans.

Do I have to sign a contract?

No. You have the option to cancel your membership at any time by logging in to your Member Account and choosing to cancel. You can also call our toll-free customer service number and we would be happy to assist you as well.

Note: Memberships are monthly and cancellations will be effective at the end of the current billing period.

If I cancel, do I receive a refund?

All Wellness Shield plan memberships are backed by a full 30-day money back guarantee of the membership fee. The application fee is nonrefundable.

If you elected to save 10% and paid yearly, we will gladly issue you a pro-rated refund for the remaining months of your paid membership.

Refunds are issued within 3 Business Days, an invoice will be sent to the email address listed in your account.

How safe is my credit card information?

Wellness Shield uses a PCI level 1 compliant service provider. That means we use secure payment systems that have been audited and verified, to ensure that you get the highest level of security there is.

Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?

Absolutely. One of the many benefits of Wellness Shield is the flexibility to fit you and your families needs. You are free to change your plan at any time, however all changes will be effective upon your next billing cycle date.

Note: If you have a special circumstance, please call our toll-free customer service number and we’ll see if there is anything more we can do.

How long will it take to sign up and become a Member?

Your Dental discounts can be used immediately. You can even sign up and use it the same day. Just have your participating Dentist verify your network membership using your name as shown on your ID Card. 

For all other discounts, your Membership will be effective within 2 Business Days. Your ID Card will show your effective date as well.

Who is included in a 'Household' Membership?

Anyone living in your household can be included. You can include your parents or other family members if you are responsible for their health and wellness and they live with you.

Just make sure you select a ‘Household’ plan and provide the requested information for each person you’d like to be included in the plan when you are signing up.

When will my ID Card arrive?

Immediately!

 − Your ID Card arrives as soon as you download the Wellness Shield App!

− Display your ID Card, search for Providers, find instructions on how to use the services contained in your plan, locate important phone numbers and more all from the Wellness Shield App.

Step by Step Guide

Step 1 – Request a visit with a doctor 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, by web, phone, or mobile app.

Step 2 – Talk to the doctor. Take as much time as you need…. there’s no limit!

Step 3 – If medically necessary, a prescription will be sent to the pharmacy of your choice.

Step 4 – It’s that easy.

How Do I Speak with a Doctor?

You can talk or video conference with a Doctor by logging in to the Teladoc app and requesting a consult right from your phone or tablet. If you prefer, you can also just call their toll-free 1-800 number.

How much will I save?

The exact savings of course will vary by how often each Member uses the service, however consider that our Telemedicine product is completely free to use.

Compare that to what you or your family would pay to visit the Emergency Room, Urgent Care facility or even your current Doctor. Then factor the convenience and time saved by speaking to a Doctor any time of the day and any where you happen to be.

With a Wellness Shield plan, you can save time, save money and get the care you need.

How often can I call?

As often as you need to. There is no limit on the number of calls or the duration of the call. You call when you need to and talk for as long as you need to.

Best of all; every call is FREE as part of your Wellness Shield Plan Membership.

What are Dental Discount Plans?

Discount dental plans are an easy and reliable way to help you save money at the dentist.

These plans give members access to significant discounts at in-network dental offices for a wide range of procedures. Discount dental plans can help you save money while offering you the quality dental care you need. Members save on preventive treatments like cleanings and x-rays, and on major treatments like root canals and bridges.

When you become a member of one of our discount dental plans, you’ll pay the dentist directly when you go in for your appointment, but at a discounted rate. How many times a year can I get my teeth cleaned?

Unlimited! You can have your teeth cleaned as often as you like.

General Questions

I forgot my password or want to change it, how do I do that?

It’s easy!

1. Click on Log In on your desktop, mobile browser or Wellness Shield App.

2. Click Forgot your password.

3. Enter your email address and a link to reset your password will be sent to you.

4. Follow the instructions in the email and you will be able to reset your password.

How quickly can I use my plan?

Your Dental discounts can be used immediately. You can even sign up and use it the same day. Just have your participating Dentist verify your network membership using your name as shown on your ID Card.

For all other discounts, your Membership will be effective within 3 Business Days. Your ID Card will show your effective date.

I just became a Member, but my ID Card doesn't have a Member ID Number?

Don’t worry. Your Member ID will be populated on your ID Card automatically within 24 hours of signing up.

Your Dental Discounts are available immediately so if you need to use them right away, simply have your participating provider verify your membership using your name.

All other Discounts are effective 3 Business Days after you sign up. Your ID Card will show your Membership effective date.

Can I offer a Wellness Shield Plan to my employees?

Absolutely. We have many small businesses that offer Wellness Shield to their employees as a stand alone or use it as a supplement to traditional health, dental or vision insurance.

In particular, our telemedicine product is an excellent way to keep costs down while also ensuring employees get the care they need.

What is the minimum or maximum number of employees I can add?

Is there a discount for multi-member small business plans?
